'Made in Limburg' article: Leendert joins Elenco's leadership team

Leendert Richard, a member of the second generation of the family behind Genk-based automation company Elenco, has just taken up a director's position in the family business. Together with his brother Thomas, he will shape Elenco's future.

Since 2011, Elenco has been bringing both new and outdated machines to life through software and PLC programming, combined with industrial electrical engineering. Until now, the Genk-based company was run by its founders Johan Richard and his son Thomas. Now Leendert is also joining the board and, together with Thomas, will shape the gradual transfer to the next generation. Father Johan does remain closely involved.

"With Leendert joining, the continuity of the company is further strengthened and we are focusing on sustainable growth for the future," says Thomas Richard. "Over the years, we have always invested heavily in innovation, and our expertise in machine vision and robotics has grown strongly as a result. Thanks to the lightning-fast developments in AI software, smart robotics, AMRs and so on, we offer solutions that were virtually unthinkable or unaffordable for most factories five years ago. Being eager to learn is in our DNA, and it is also one of the core values we consider important among our 16 colleagues. We work with new technologies every day, which makes our job incredibly fascinating and challenging. So we are really looking forward to the coming years, to continue building our name as a family business in Belgian industry."
